Shopee, Lazada And Tokopedia Affirm Commitment To Order Imported Clothing Sellers

JAKARTA - A number of e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tokopedia and Lazada ensure that they have complied with government directives regarding controlling used imported clothing.

Shopee Indonesia's Deputy of Public Affairs, Radynal Nataprawira, confirmed that his party had lowered hundreds of thousands of Stock Keeping Units (SKU). This was done after his party coordinated with the Ministry of MSMEs.

"So there is some related news in social media, there is an account that is a Shopee seller whose goods were sent down regarding imported goods, now it illustrates how our constitution is one of tens of thousands of shops that we have arranged," he told the media crew at the Ministry of MSME Building, Friday, November 7th.

He continued, in fact, his party has been actively controlling the sale of used imported clothes from the ballistics since 2023. However, sellers are getting smarter and the way sales continue to evolve. He emphasized that Shopee's approach was actually carried out humanely. This is because many Shopee sellers outsmart the system by including keywords that are difficult to detect

"Because there are indeed several sellers who put their descriptions into manipulativeity, so we are indeed a bit humane, we will take them down one by one," he said.

For this reason, he ensures that his party checks one by one so that small sellers are not affected.

"We don't want to use a straight machine to block it keywords, I'm afraid there will be small MSMEs that we did deploy," he explained.

As for Lazada Indonesia's Vice President Government Affairs, Yovan Sudarma also ensured that Lazada obeyed all applicable regulations in Indonesia and followed government directions regarding the supervision and prohibition of the sale of used imported goods.

"Lazada will obey and obey the rules in force in Indonesia and will follow directions from the Ministry of MSMEs regarding these used imported goods," he said.

Meanwhile, Tokopedia's Lead of Public Policy, Richard Anggoro, emphasized that Tokopedia had long imposed a ban on the sale of used clothes. For this reason, he ensured that he would not hesitate to discipline rogue sellers.

"At Tokopedia and TikTok shops by Tokopedia prohibit the sale of used imported goods and if found products that violate will be immediately lowered," said Richard.
