Unlicensed Buildings In Serang Get Ready To Be Dismantled, PUPR Affirms No Tolerance

TANGERANG - The Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office of Serang City, Banten Province, confirmed that it would impose strict sanctions in the form of demolition for building owners who do not have a Building Agreement (PBG) or refuse to pay levies.

Head of the Public Works and Housing Office of Serang City, Iwan Sunardi, said that the policy was implemented in stages, starting from warning letters to revocation of permits, and if it was not heeded, it would lead to demolition.

"There are stages, of course, starting from a notification letter, then withdrawing permits, to demolition," said Iwan in Serang, Antara, Friday, November 7.

This decisive step is in line with the efforts of the PUPR Office which is optimizing the issuance of PBG and IMB to pursue the Regional Original Revenue (PAD) target towards the end of the fiscal year.

To maximize data collection on unlicensed buildings, the PUPR Office cooperates with sub-district heads and village heads in each region.

"We have taken innovation steps by inviting the sub-district head to collect data in their respective areas on buildings that have been established and are still in the development stage," he said.

The data from the data collection will then be verified by a joint team from the PUPR Service and the licensing office by directly visiting the field.

Iwan admitted that his party was still verifying reports from the sub-districts because many residents did not understand the difference between PBG and IMB.

"The understanding of the public about PBG is still new, when actually PBG is just changing its name from IMB. That's why we re-verify it to make it clear," he said.

The PAD target from the issuance of PBG this year is set at IDR 7.85 billion. Until the last report, the realization only reached 46 percent.

"Yesterday it was 46 percent, but we haven't recaped it yet because there are developments that will be calculated this month," said Iwan.
