Roy Suryo: It's Not A Disappointed Matter, It's A Scientific Or No Problem

JAKARTA - Telematics expert Roy Suyro responded to the determination of the suspect against him regarding the report of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on allegations of fake diplomas. Roy admitted that he respects the legal process being carried out by Polda Metro Jaya investigators.

Roy said he just smiled to hear the news. In fact, he invited the other seven suspects to stay strong.

"So once again, what is my attitude? I smiled, I handed it over to my attorney, I still invite all 7 of others to stay strong," Roy told reporters at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, Jakarta, Friday, November 7, 2025.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) emphasized that he is a telematics expert and has the right to conduct research on the disclosure of public information.

According to him, the determination of this suspect will set a bad precedent in the eyes of the public. Because, for Roy Suryo, people who examine public documents are suspected and criminalized.

"This is our struggle, the struggle of the entire Indonesian nation, the whole community against injustice and criminalization," he said.

When asked whether to file a pretrial for determining a suspect or not, Roy did not answer clearly.

"Nothing, it's not a matter of disappointment, it's a matter of science or not, criminalization or not, it's fair or not. That's all," he said.

Separately, Forensic Digital Expert, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar admitted that he did not accept his status as a suspect on charges of editing and manipulating data. Because, so far, President Jokowi's diploma has never been shown.

"We do not accept that we are accused of editing and manipulating Jokowi's diploma, while Jokowi's diploma has never been shown at this time," he said when contacted by VOI.

Even so, Rismon still adhered to law enforcement and was present at the next police summons.

"I will definitely come, waiting for the call (of the police)," he said.

Polda Metro Jaya has named eight suspects in the case of defamation and slander related to the alleged fake diploma of the 7th former President Joko widodo (Jokowi).
