Frenkie De Jong Agrees, No Need For DNA Changes Barcelona's Game

JAKARTA - Barcelona are required to change the game system after the 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

However, this was firmly opposed by Blaugrana Manager Hansi Flick. The German coach revealed that he still maintains his playing style which is Barcelona's DNA.

This is supported by midfielder Frenkie de Jong that improvements are more needed than change.

"There are things we have to adjust, we know that. We are working hard, but we can't show it on the pitch right now."

"We are weak in the current counter-attack, whether it's related to tracking or positioning at the back, maybe that's a bit of a factor."

"However, not everything is related to that. If you concede three goals, it is difficult to win," said De Jong after the match against Club Brugge.

De Jong also said it was time to stop comparing this season to last year, when tense football helped Barcelona win domestic trebles even though they still failed in the Champions League - lost to Inter Milan in the semifinals.

"We had to forget last year. Last year, we were not the best team in Europe. So, we don't have to keep comparing ourselves to last year, we have to forget about it."

"We didn't win the Champions League and we also conceded a lot of goals, so we have to improve," said the Dutchman.

After returning from Belgium, Celta Vigo has been waiting for Barcelona in LaLiga. The Blaugrana will play an away party at Balaidos on Monday, November 10, 2025, early morning WIB.
