Government Opens Opportunities To Increase Subsidized Fertilizer Quota Next Year

KARAWANG - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, opens the opportunity for additional subsidized fertilizer quotas in 2026. The decision will be based on the level of absorption of subsidized fertilizers throughout 2025.

For your information, the government has set a subsidized fertilizer quota of 9.55 million tons this year at PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero). Until early November, the realization of distribution had penetrated more than 6 million tons, while the stock was still sufficient for farmers' needs until the end of the year.

"We'll see, if 9 million runs out, then add. If it doesn't run out, now it's only 6 million, we'll see how it looks until the end of the year," he said in Tamelang Hamlet, Purwasari, Karawang, West Java, Thursday, November 6.

Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Milik Adi, an officer revealed that there has been no contract for the procurement of subsidized fertilizer with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) for 2026.

"In 2026, maybe we still haven't received a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture. So for certainty from the allocation of subsidized fertilizers in 2026, we will coordinate further with the Ministry of Agriculture," said Amaz.

Even so, he said his party would accelerate the distribution of subsidized fertilizers ahead of the third planting season. As of November 2025, the company has distributed 6.5 million tons of subsidized fertilizer out of a total quota of 9.55 million tons.

"We will continue to encourage absorption until later we can fulfill the government allocation. Our estimate will push up to 2 million tons by the end of the year. So the estimate is at 8.2 to 8.5 million tons," he said.

He said the target would be achieved with several strategies, one of which was socialization to farmers.

"So, for the absorption strategy, we massively do socialization to farmers. Especially entering this third planting season," he said.

Currently, he continued, a number of areas have entered the rainy season, this condition also supports to start planting.

Therefore, Pupuk Indonesia will move sales kiosks in the regions.
