Norwegian Police Stop Drone Terror Investigation That Closed Oslo Airport

JAKARTA - The Norwegian police closed an investigation into the alleged sighting of an unmanned aircraft that caused the closure of Oslo airport in September, arguing there was insufficient evidence of the drone's presence.

Both Oslo and Copenhagen airports were closed for several hours on September 22-23 after the airspace above the two airports was closed due to reports of drone sightings.

Drones have caused major disruptions across Europe in recent months, forcing temporary closures of airports in several countries. Some officials blamed the incident on Russia's "hybrid war". Moscow denies any connection with the incident.

As reported by Reuters on Thursday, November 6, the Norwegian Police said they had checked airport personnel and reviewed surveillance videos as part of the investigation, but the investigation "cannot confirm or deny whether the drone was actually visible on the night of September 23.

Days after the Oslo and Copenhagen incidents, five small airports in Denmark, both civilian and military, were also temporarily closed and unidentified drones were seen near military installations, the Danish police said.

"The Danish investigation into the drone sightings at Copenhagen airport is also ongoing," the Danish police told Reuters on Thursday.
