Pramono Yakin Tiang Monorel Mangkrak Dismantled Can Reduce 18 Percent Congestion On Jalan Rasuna Said

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung believes that the demolition of the stalled monorail on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, will further facilitate traffic on the road.

Based on the results of the study and calculations of the Transportation Service, the level of congestion in the area is estimated to be down between 14 and 18 percent after the demolition project is carried out.

"And if that can be done, based on the results of studies, analysis, surveys, and also calculations from the Department of Transportation, then congestion at Rasuna Said will decrease between 14 and 18 percent," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, November 6.

Pramono revealed that the demolition of this monorail pole will be realized no later than January 2026. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has prepared a special budget for the work, including the rearrangement of the Rasuna Said area, which has been known as one of the busiest corridors in South Jakarta.

"When DKI will dismantle it, we have determined the time is January. Anyway, the budget is already there," said Pramono.

However, before that, Pramono would first ask PT Adhi Karya (Persero) to dismantle the stalled monorail pole on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta in order to end the fate of the former failed project pole. Because, based on the court's decision, the asset was declared to belong to Adhi Karya.

Pramono will officially send a letter to Adhi Karya asking for demolition. This step was taken by Pramono after consulting with the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office so that the demolition of the monorail pole at Rasuna Said will certainly not generate legal problems in the future.

"Within the earliest days of next week, I will write a letter to Adhi Karya asking Adhi Karya in accordance with the letter sent by Kajati Jakarta, then we will ask them to dismantle and we will give them 1 month," Pramono explained.

If Adhi Karya doesn't want to dismantle it himself, then the DKI Provincial Government will do it in next year's awa. Then, Pramono plans to widen Jalan Rasuna Said to reorganize the pedestrian path. Pramono ensured that the DKI Provincial Government had prepared a budget for the construction.

According to him, the demolition of the monorail pole will be carried out in conjunction with widening roads and the construction of new sidewalks to improve the quality of public spaces while facilitating the flow of vehicles in the Kuningan office area.

"So, when DKI will dismantle it in January, we will widen the road, build the pedestrians, and the funds will already exist so that next year Rasuna Said will be better," he said.

Since several years ago, the pole of the Jakarta monorail project that has stalled along the HR Rasuna Said road and Jalan Asia Afrika has begun to be considered disturbing.

Initially, the construction of this monorail project in Jakarta began in 2004. At that time, the Governor of DKI was still held by Sutiyoso. The DKI Provincial Government is working with PT Jakarta Monorail as the developer or investor of the project.

The failure of the project began after several years of construction. When the monorail pole was held, DKI Governor Fauzi Bowo (who replaced Sutiyoso) stopped this development due to financial problems.

In 2014, former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama canceled his contract with PT Jakarta Monorail. In the court's decision, the assets of the monorail pole were declared to belong to Adhi Karya, so the state-owned company intended to dismantle them.
