TNI AD Actions On Illegal Gold Mining On Mount Halimun Salak
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army through Infantry Battalion 315/Garuda and the Ministry of Forestry took action against illegal gold mining practices in the Gunung Halimun Salak National Park area, West Java.
"The deployment of personnel assistance in the context of securing the control of illegal mining is based on orders from the top command, in this case Kodam III/Siliwangi and Korem 061/Suryakancana," said Infantry Battalion Commander 315/Garuda Lieutenant Colonel (Inf) Ilham when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Thursday, November 6.
Ilham explained that the prosecution had been carried out since October 28, 2025, and this is the first time it has been revealed to the public. He said the action stemmed from complaints from the public that Yonif 315 received regarding illegal gold mining activities.
Based on these complaints, a team from Yonif 315/Garuda together with the Ministry of Forestry traced the illegal mining location.
Ilham continued that the exact locations of the illegal mines were located in two places, namely Ciear Village, Cileuksa Village, Sukajaya District and Cibuluh Mountain, Cisarua Village, Sukajaya District, Bogor Regency.
"In the control operation, the Yonif 315/Garuda Team together with the resort forest police team section 2 Bogor managed to control and seal hundreds of tents and semi-permanent buildings," explained Ilham.
Not only that, but his party also obtained several pieces of evidence, namely stone milling machines, generators, gold-making materials, and mining holes.
In addition to taking action, the team is also trying to educate the surrounding community regarding the rules for prohibiting mining activities in national park areas because it can increase the risk of natural disasters.
With these educational efforts, it is hoped that the public can understand and not repeat these illegal activities.
