Suarez Receives One-Game Ban for Kicking Nashville Player
JAKARTA - Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez will be suspended for the final match of their best-of-three First Round MLS playoff series against Nashville SC.
Suarez was suspended for one match for kicking Nashville's Andy Najar in the second half on November 1, 2025, at Geodis Park, a game Inter Miami lost 2-1.
The referee did not issue a yellow or red card to the player at the time of the incident.
"The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez for one match and fined him an undisclosed amount under Disciplinary Committee Parameter 3 for violent conduct in the 71st minute of Inter Miami's match against Nashville SC on November 1, 2025."
"Suarez will serve his one-game suspension on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 8:00 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), when Inter Miami plays Nashville SC," said the MLS Disciplinary Committee statement.
However, Major League Soccer rules allow for post-match disciplinary action when the match referee fails to issue a card for an on-field violation.
Suarez will now serve his second suspension from MLS in 2025, having previously received a three-game suspension for spitting on a Seattle Sounders staff member after the Leagues Cup final on August 31, 2025.
"Inter Miami CF accepts and respects the decision made by the MLS Disciplinary Committee. At the same time, the club wishes to express its concern over the precedent set by re-refereeing a game that has already been judged by match officials and VAR, and its belief that the same standards will be applied in the future to all on-field situations, in any match and involving any team," Inter Miami said in a statement on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, local time.
Inter Miami will now enter the decisive final match of the playoff series without Suarez, as the team looks to advance to the next round.
The First Round series ended in a 1-1 draw after Inter Miami won the first match 3-1 but lost the second.
