LPSK Affirms Never Disbursed Money Laundering Victim Funds, Letters Circulating Hoaxes

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) confirmed that letters with kop, logo, and fake signatures of LPSK Chairman Brigadier General (Ret.) Achmadi circulating on social media as well as chain messages related to the disbursement of victim savings on behalf of PT Indo Premier Sekuritas are untrue or hoaxes.

The letter contains information as if LPSK will disburse the victim's savings funds with a certain nominal value and request the delivery of a certain amount of administrative money.

LPSK emphasized that it has never issued any letters, policies or disbursement of funds related to the Money Laundering (TPPU) case.

In accordance with the mandate stipulated in Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, LPSK only has the authority to calculate and propose the value of restitution or compensation paid by perpetrators of criminal acts to victims based on court decisions.

"LPSK does not have the authority to disburse investment funds, savings, or victims' assets," said LPSK Chairman Brigadier General (Ret.) Achmadi in an electronic message received in Jakarta, Thursday, November 6.

The act of falsifying state institution documents and spreading fake news is a criminal act as regulated in the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) as amended by Law Number 19 of 2016.

The announcement that took my name and on behalf of LPSK in disbursing customer savings was untrue and a hoax. LPSK has never issued a letter or policy asking for fees from victims. We ask the public to be careful and not to easily believe in people on behalf of LPSK," said Achmadi.

Currently, LPSK is conducting research and collecting applications for protection for restitution facilitation from victims of the Money Laundering (TPPU) case. This process is carried out in accordance with legal provisions, transparent, and without any fees from the victim.

LPSK invites the public not to follow up on letters or messages that use the names of institutional officials and immediately report them to the Indonesian Police or LPSK Public Relations via LPSK Instagram resti @infolpsk.
