Secretary General Of Rutte Claims NATO Alliance Is Unbeaten
JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte said on Wednesday the alliance's collective force made it "completely unbeaten," stating his belief no one dared to attack any NATO member.
If this country is attacked, there will be "31 other countries coming to save Romania. This is how NATO works," Secretary General Rutte told a joint news conference with Romanian President Nicusor Dan in Bucharest.
"And I think this makes us unbeaten, completely unbeaten. And that's why I'm sure no one will try," he added, followed by Anadolu November 6.
Furthermore, Secretary Rutte stressed that Romania has become a "straight and valuable ally," giving leadership in a strategic and vital Black Sea region.
He praised Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey for their joint efforts to expand mine disposal operations and patrols in the region.
Secretary General Rutte said NATO vigilance remained high amid repeated attacks by Russian drones into Romanian airspace.
"NATO is taking these incidents very seriously, and we will remain vigilant. Prevention is the foundation of our defense, so we emphasize that NATO is ready, willing, and able to do whatever it takes to defend itself," Rutte said.
Responding to Washington's recent decision to reduce its troop presence in several eastern wing countries, including Romania, Secretary General Rutte dismissed the concern by saying such adjustments were routine.
"The US has a large presence in Europe, and that presence is indeed there. This adjustment did happen. Please don't think too much," he said.
