BPS: There Are 40 Thousand Unemployed People In Bali

DENPASAR - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali noted that based on a survey by the workforce in August 2025, Bali still has 40.99 thousand unemployed people.

"For the workforce, it is divided into those who work or succeed in getting jobs and those who are not working or unemployed, with 2.70 million people working, while 40.99 thousand people are unemployed," said Head of BPS Bali Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, November 5.

Agus Gede explained, from the results of the August 2025 survey, the working age population in Bali or 15 years and over was 3.55 million people or an increase of 27.63 thousand people from August 2024.

Of these, 2.74 million of them are a workforce, both working and job seekers, and 0.80 million are not workforces such as housewives or students.

After being traced, it turns out that among those who are in the workforce, 2.70 million have found work or an increase of 36.31 thousand compared to last year and 40.99 thousand unemployed or 7.68 thousand people.

Even though it still leaves unemployment, according to BPS Bali, this figure is getting better because only 1.49 percent of the unemployed are open and the lowest number in Indonesia.

If viewed by gender, the rest of the workforce who are still unemployed for men is 1.51 percent, or more than women as much as 1.48 percent.

Based on districts/cities, the highest open unemployment rate occurred in Karangasem Regency as much as 1.80 percent and the lowest Bangli 0.73 percent or most of the population had worked.

"The open unemployment rate is the lowest nationally and out of a total of 40.99 thousand people, so not only the percentage has decreased, but the number has also decreased," said Agus Gede as quoted by ANTARA.

The decline in unemployment in Bali is in line with economic growth in the third quarter, so it is concluded that the number of people is absorbed more because of the opening of employment opportunities.

BPS Bali also dissects data on employment in business fields, where the trade sector absorbs the most workers.

This business field absorbs 20.79 percent of the 2.74 million people who have worked earlier, followed by agriculture absorbing 17.18 percent, processing industry 14.95 percent, then accommodation and food and drink 14.51 percent.

From the August 2024 survey, it was also seen that the status of the population who had worked in Bali was mostly workers or employees, namely 46.03 percent, then 21.13 percent who worked alone, tried to help workers, did not remain 11.12 percent, and 10.38 percent of family workers/not paid 10.38 percent.
