Inflation In October 2025 Amount Of 2.86 Percent, Minister Tito: Still In A Safe Position

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said that inflation in October 2025 year on year (yoy) was still safe because it was within the government's target range, which was 2.5 percent plus minus 1 percent.

Tito said this target maintains a balance so that it remains beneficial for producers and consumers because commodity prices are neither too high nor too low.

"This means that the range that we want to target is 1.5 percent to 3.5 percent. 2.86 percent (inflation) is still in a safe position," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 5.

Tito said the commodities that contributed the highest to year-on-year inflation (yoy) in October 2025 were jewelry, followed by red chilies, rice, drinking water tariffs, and fresh fish.

Meanwhile, the highest contributor commodities to inflation on a monthly basis (September to October) include jewelry, red chilies, broiler eggs, chicken meat, and carrots.

"Currently, there is an increase in the price of gold at the international level, the world. So, something we cannot control ourselves because it involves global trends," he said.

Tito then explained the three components forming inflation. First, administrative prices or prices regulated by the government, such as fuel oil (BBM), transportation, and drinking water.

Second, volatile items whose prices fluctuate, such as food, beverages, and tobacco.

Third, core inflation or core inflation, namely inflation outside of prices regulated by the government and outside of food.

"These Golds are included in the core inflation. On the one hand, it shows that there is people's purchasing power, they can buy gold. But, on the other hand, if it is too volatile, it will cause inflation to rise as well," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

Tito emphasized that the government continues to maintain the stability of volatile commodities so that they remain under control.

He highlighted the importance of subsidy policies in maintaining purchasing power and inflation, one of which is through electricity subsidies whose benefits are widely felt by the community.

Tito also appealed to various parties to be aware of the potential price increase ahead of Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru).

He asked local governments not to increase service rates, such as drinking water, because it has the potential to encourage inflation.

In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs said that his party would coordinate with the relevant ministries to maintain the stability of transportation ticket prices ahead of Nataru.

"We will communicate with the Minister of Transportation and airlines not to raise it to the highest price," he explained.

In addition, Tito emphasized the importance of strengthening people's purchasing power through the distribution of social assistance (bansos), as well as implementing market or low-cost operations so that food prices remain stable before Nataru.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs also asked the local government to pay attention to national strategic programs, especially the construction of three million houses for low-income people (MBR).

This is considering that there are still many people who need decent housing access.

"Regions cannot work alone with the APBD. This takes full advantage of it, properly arrest the program from the Ministry of PKP (Residential and Settlement Areas)," he explained.
