Germany Adds 3 Billion Euro Armed Aid To Ukraine

JAKARTA - Germany plans to increase its financial assistance to Ukraine by about three billion euros ($3.5 billion) next year.

This news was conveyed by two government sources on Tuesday, November 4, confirming reports in the Handelsblatt business daily.

Germany is Europe's largest contributor to military aid to Ukraine, with a total of about 40 billion euros since Russia's massive invasion in 2022. In the 2026 budget, Germany has allocated 8.5 billion euros to Ukraine.

"We will continue our support as long as necessary to defend ourselves from the war of Russian aggression," one government source told Reuters.

Germany's Minister of Finance and Defense will add three billion euros to Ukraine in late 2026 budget adjustments, the source said.

The funds will include artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and the replacement of two Patriot systems, the source continued.

A second government source told Reuters that Chancellor Friedrich Merz supports plans expected to be approved.
