Demak Regent Moves Quickly To Handle Sayung Floods, Expands Pumpization

Demak Regent Eisti'anah moved quickly to deal with flooding that submerged the Sayung area. He directly observed the condition of the affected residents in Lengkong Hamlet, Sayung Village, on Tuesday (4/11), and handed over 600 food packages to meet the basic needs of the community.

Eisti'anah emphasized that the local government did not remain silent and took emergency steps in the field. One of them is accelerating pumping to reduce flooding due to heavy rains and tidal waves that have hit the coastal area again.

"We are collaborating with the Central Java Provincial Government to accelerate flood management. Pumpization is carried out at several points so that the water recedes immediately," he said.

The Regent of Demak Eisti'anah also stated that the local government will continue to strive to provide long-term solutions to overcome the flood problem in the region.

"This assistance is part of the emergency response to flood impacts and is expected to help affected communities to meet their basic needs," he said.

In addition to fast handling, the Demak Regency Government has also prepared long-term efforts to reduce the risk of repeated flooding.

The Head of BPBD Demak, Agus Sukiyono, stated that logistics continues to be distributed and coordination across agencies is increased. The assistance provided is in the form of basic necessities and other basic needs.

BPBD also deployed a number of pumps in Sayung Village, consisting of:
