The Number Of Passengers For All Sustainable Transportation Modes In September 2025, Except For ASDP

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency noted that passenger transportation modes throughout Indonesia contracted in September 2025, both for air, land, and sea transportation.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Pudji Ismartini, reported that the increase only occurred in ASDP passenger transportation, which was 1.46 percent month to month (mtm) to 3.9 million people.

"One of these increases is due to increased community mobility at inter-island crossings during the long weekend holiday," said Pudji, quoted on Tuesday, November 4.

Cumulatively, from January to September 2025, the number of ASDP passengers reached 39.2 million people, an increase of 15.12 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

However, the number of train transport passengers increased when compared to the figure in September 2024 of 42.51 million passengers.

Meanwhile, domestic sea transportation was recorded at 2.35 million passengers or a decrease of -5.62 percent month-to-month to the number of passengers in August 2025 of 2.49 million passengers.

"An annual basis, there is an increase in the number of passengers in almost all modes of transportation except for domestic air transportation," explained Pudji.

"The highest increase in the number of transportations occurred in the domestic sea transportation mode, which was 12.57 percent yoy, while domestic air transportation experienced a decrease in the number of passengers, which was 11.24 percent yoy," he added.
