Batam Prosecutor's Office "Hits" Assets Of 4 Corruption Suspects PT Persero, Targets To Restore Rp2.2 Billion

The Batam District Attorney (Kejari), Riau Islands, took firm steps to recover state losses worth Rp2.2 billion in the alleged corruption case of irregularities in the closure of PT Persero Batam's asset insurance at PT Berdikari Insurance for the 2012-2021 period. This effort was carried out by starting tracking the assets (asset tracing) of the suspects.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Batam Kejari, Priandi Firdaus, stated that asset tracking is in the process and is an important role for the Indonesian Attorney General's Office in the recovery of state finances.

"We will carry out asset tracing (tracing assets) of the suspects, currently in progress," said Priandi Firdaus in Batam, Tuesday.

4 Suspects Have Not Returned State Losses

Priandi explained that until now, the four suspects who have been named have not shown good faith to return the state financial losses incurred.

"The state losses incurred were quite large Rp2.2 billion, and so far the suspects have not returned them at all," he said.

The four suspects responsible for this loss are HO as General Manager of Accounting and Finance of PT Persero Batam (2013-2020 period).DU serves as President Director of PT Persero Batam (2018-2020 period).

BU as a Functional Insurance of PT Persero Batam (2013-2013 period) and TA is the President Director of PT Entrepreneurs of the Batam City Industrial Estate or PT Persero Batam (2015-2018 period).

Cooperation with PPATK

Batam Kejari investigators hope that there will be a refund of state losses after the determination of the suspect. However, if there is no return, the asset tracking process will continue.

"We hope that from these 4 (suspects) there will be a return, if there is no return, we will investigate and develop it. We will carry out tracing assets," said Priandi.

To maximize this effort, the Batam Kejari has coordinated with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

"We have coordinated, later tracking assets have several techniques. Hopefully, the state loss of Rp. 2.2 billion can be recovered," he hoped.

This case, based on the results of the calculation of state financial losses by the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) dated December 4, 2023, has principally resulted in state losses of around Rp. 2.2 billion. The four suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 and or Article 3 of the Tipidkor Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.
