The Waste Project Is Worked On Starting Early Next Year

JAKARTA - The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) targets the Waste Into Electricity (PSEL) or Waste to Energy (WTE) project to begin construction in early 2026.

For your information, currently the project will enter the stage of determining the technology provider company to become a partner of the Development and Management Business Entity (BUPP).

Managing Director of the Danantara Investment, Stefanus Ade Hadiwidjaja said tenders for the first phase of the PSEL project or batch 1 will begin on November 6, 2025, covering up to seven cities that have been declared ready by the Ministry of Environment (KLH).

The details are Bali, Yogyakarta, Bogor Raya, Tangerang Raya, Semarang City, Bekasi Raya, and Medan Raya.

"Hopefully we can also groundbreaking in early 2026, that's the target of that," Stefanus said in a media briefing in Jakarta, Monday, November 3.

Meanwhile, Danantara's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Patria Sjahrir said the PSEL project tender process would be followed by 24 foreign companies that had been selected by the government.

Meanwhile, the 24 companies that passed the initial stage were part of more than 200 WTE technology provider companies interested in participating in the strategic project.

Furthermore, Pandu said the 24 foreign companies must form a consortium involving local companies.

"Of the 24 PLTSa technology providers, we ask to create a consortium with local companies before sending bids in the tender that opened this week," said Pandu.
