APMI Freezes Mecimapro Membership Status Impact Of Fraud Cases

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Music Promoter Association (APMI) stated that it had frozen Mecimapro's membership status. This was done in connection with the fraud and embezzlement of TWICE concert funds in Jakarta which took place on December 23, 2023.

"Yes, (Mecimapro is included) in APMI membership, and now we have frozen its membership. I don't know (how long), until a time limit that we cannot determine," said APMI Legal Division Head Novry Hetharia SH, MH. quoting ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday 3 November.

Novry conveyed that APMI had reviewed and discussed the case in a management meeting. The results of the discussion concluded that the problems faced by Mecimapro were personal problems. Therefore, the organization cannot interfere or help the person concerned.

"But if this is a business to business (B2B) Mecimapro, it has internal business between the company and other parties, so that there are legal problems, either criminal or civil, we do not participate," he said.

Novry also reminded that the position of the promoter is different from the Event Organizer (EO). When holding an event, the promoter is the party that will work on the concept of the event itself and determine how the event will be held.

Promotors must also be prepared with the consequences that occur at concerts, including bearing losses, even though the event is still held. In contrast to EO who does an event and is paid according to the request of the relevant parties. EO will also get a management fee from the total work provided.

So far, Novry has stated that APMI has tightened membership screening for promoters who want to join. The management will carefully examine the experience of prospective members in holding concerts, checking the company's finances to the amount of capital that the promoter has.

"But indeed if a business like this cannot be mitigated because it is an internal matter, we don't know," he said.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya named Fransiska Dwi Melani (FDW) as Director of PT Melani Citra Permata (Mecimapro) as a suspect.

FDW allegedly embezzled the organizing funds for the TWICE 5th girl group concert "World Tour Ready To Be" at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on December 23, 2023, amounting to IDR 10 billion.
