Farmer's Exchange Rate Drops To 124.33 In October 2025, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the farmer's exchange rate (NTP) contracted 0.02 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (mtm) to 124.33 in October 2025. In fact, last September, NTP was at 124.36

The farmer's exchange rate is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the intermediary (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

Thus, the higher the exchange rate of farmers, the stronger the level of ability or purchasing power of farmers is.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Pudji Ismartini, explained that the decline in NTP was due to the slower increase in the price index received by farmers (It) than the increase in the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

The price index received by farmers reached 155.13, an increase of 0.06 percent, while the index paid by farmers reached 124.77, an increase of 0.08 percent.

"The decline in NTP occurred in the price index, which was received by farmers, an increase of 0.06 percent, of which the price index increase was slower than the increase in the price index paid by farmers by 0.08 percent," said Pudji in a BRS release in Jakarta, Monday, November 3.

The contributors to the index commodities received by farmers are palm oil, corn, rubber, and red chili. Meanwhile, the commodities contributing to the index paid by farmers are red chilies, broiler eggs, gold jewelry and oranges.

Based on its sub-sector, the decline in NTP October 2025 was influenced by the decline in NTP in the horticultural sub-sector by 2.33 percent and the fishermen's exchange rate (NTN) which fell by 0.04 percent. This is due to the decrease in the price index received by fishermen deeper than the decrease in the price index paid by fishermen.

On the other hand, other sub-sectors experienced an increase in NTP, namely the food crop sub-sector by 0.17 percent and the people's plantation crop sub-sector which rose 0.25 percent. NTP livestock also rose 0.60 percent, fisheries rose 0.03 percent and fish cultivators rose 0.14 percent.
