MKD Holds Initial Session Regarding 'Joget Viral Members Of The DPR' At The Annual Session With The MPR

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives' Honorary Court (MKD) held its inaugural session regarding the dancing of members of the House of Representatives which went viral on social media, during the annual session of the MPR RI. The dance action was later accused of being unethical behavior and was considered to have fun after the announcement of the increase in the salary of council members.

In today's trial agenda, MKD summoned a number of parties including the coordinator of the Defense University (IDU) orchestra.

"The Honorary Court of the Council received a letter from the leadership of the DPR RI to conduct a preliminary examination, to seek clarity regarding a series of events that received public attention that occurred from August 15, 2025 to September 3, 2025," said Chairman of the MKD DPR RI, Nazaruddin Dek Gam at the MKD session at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 3.

"As we know, on August 15, 2025, the 2025 MPR RI Annual Session was held in a joint session with the DPR RI and DPD RI which was attended by President Prabowo Subianto. There were parties who conveyed information that at that time it was announced that the salary increase for members of the DPR RI was being responded to by a number of members of the DPR by dancing," he continued.

After the trial, said Dek Gam, several members of the Indonesian House of Representatives were accused of conveying sentences and committing unethical gestures.

As is known, there are five members of the Indonesian House of Representatives who have been declared inactive by their respective parties. Namely Adies Kadir, Ahmad Sahroni, Nafa Urbach, Surya Ula Uya Kuya, and Eko Hendro Purnomo alias Eko Patrio.

"Therefore, today the Honorary Court of the Council will ask for information from witnesses and experts to clarify the title of the case of a series of events that received public attention that occurred from August 15, 2025 to September 3, 2025," he said.

As is known, a number of video clips were viral showing members of the DPR dancing in the annual session after the announcement of a salary increase by President Prabowo Subianto. One of the increases in salary is related to the official house budget of Rp. 50 million.

Several members of the House of Representatives then responded to this with a narrative that was considered to spark public disappointment. The public then became angry and held a demonstration at the end of last August that killed several people.

A number of houses of DPR members including Ahmad Sahroni, Uya Kuya, Eko Patrio and Nafa Urbach were then targeted for vandalism. Until finally the four members of the council were deactivated by the party, including the Deputy Speaker of the DPR from Golkar, Adies Kadir, who miscalculated the budget for the official house.
