Sinner Rebut Number 1 World After The 2025 Paris Masters Champion

JAKARTA Jannik Sinner beat Felix Auger-Aliassime to win his first Paris Masters title and reclaim world number one from rival Carlos Alcaraz.

The Italian tennis player climbed onto the highest podium after winning two straight sets 6-4 and 7-6(4) on Sunday, November 2, 2025, WIB night. Results at the same time ensured he returned to world number one, where he had previously sat.

Sinner managed to take advantage of Alcaraz's failure in this tournament. The Spaniard has been eliminated in the early stages so that it opens up opportunities for rivals Sinner.

"I'm certainly happy. Since the beginning of the week I've known there was this opportunity (to return to world number one)," said Sinner after the match.

Sinner was previously ranked first in the world since June last year and lasted 65 weeks. His position was then shifted by Alcaraz after the final of the US Open in September 2025.

In total, Sinner has collected five titles this season including the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The victory in Paris is his first Masters 1000 level title since Shanghai in October 2025.

"Every title has its own meaning. Every victory comes in a different condition. There are times when you feel great all week and there are times when you have to fight harder," said Sinner.

On the other hand, the defeat in the final saw Auger-Aliassime fail to secure a ticket to the ATP Finals this month. However, the results in Paris made the Canadian player move up to eighth in the Race to Turin standings, past Lorenzo Musetti.

Despite failing to add to the fourth title of the season, the 25-year-old still showed a significant revival in 2025 and again broke through the top 10 in the world.
