Residents Turn 10 Km Impact Of Breakup Of Tulungagung's Life Road, Regency Government Prepares Alternative Mitigation
TULUNGAGUNG - Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java, immediately took steps to handle and mitigate post-longsor which cut off the connecting road access between Kawasngan Village and Picisan Village in Sendang District, Saturday, November 1 night.
Acting Head of the Tulungagung Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR), Agus Sulis, said that his party had carried out initial mitigation by reviewing and evaluating the impact of the landslide.
"We are still conducting a construction study that is appropriate for the condition of cliffs and roads," Agus said in Tulungagung, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 2.
Agus explained that his party had not been able to confirm the amount of the costs needed to repair roads that had collapsed by landslides. However, coordination has been carried out with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to prepare a temporary alternative route for affected residents.
Meanwhile, Sendang Husein Sub-district Head said the road cut off had forced residents of Picisan Village and Putuk Hamlet, Sawasngan Village, to rotate about 10 kilometers through other routes to transport agricultural products and fresh milk.
"This condition is quite disturbing people's economic mobility," he said.
The Head of BPBD Tulungagung, Robinson Pasaroan Nadeak, added that his party had alerted personnel at the location and remaped landslide-prone points. He also appealed to residents on slopes and riverbanks to increase their vigilance, especially during heavy rains.
"We have to ensure that public access and safety are maintained," said Robinson.
Joint officers from the Sendang Police, BPBD, and village officials have installed safety lines around the landslide location and prohibited residents from crossing until the cleaning process is complete.
