OJK Affirms Digital Financial Transformation Must Encourage Inclusion And Access Equality

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) emphasizes that digital financial transformation must encourage inclusion and expand opportunities for all levels of society.

As for this, the Chief Executive of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation Supervision, Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets (KE IAKD) of OJK Hasan Fawzi at the 2025 Indonesian Digital Financial Economy Festival (FEKDI) and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo (IFSE).

Digital financial transformation should be a means to expand access and opportunities, not create new inequalities. OJK is committed to ensuring that every innovation runs responsibly, ethically, and sustainably," Hasan said in his statement, Sunday, November 2.

Hasan also added that the OJK will continue to maintain a balance between impetus to innovation and risk mitigation that may arise, as well as strengthen consumer protection.

"We at the OJK will continue to be present and maintain a balance between innovation on the one hand with the ability to mitigate the risks that may be caused, between continuing to encourage growth by providing protection for consumers and customers without compromise," he said.

Hasan also emphasized that the policy direction issued by the OJK is in line with Asta Cita Pemerintah, especially in realizing economic independence, increasing productivity, and equitable development and reducing regional inequality, where digital transformation becomes a national development instrument that is fair and sustainable.

On this occasion, Deputy Senior Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti emphasized the importance of synergy, innovation, and acceleration as the three main keys in accelerating the transformation of Indonesia's digital economy and finance.

"Without synergy, we will not be able to achieve optimal digitalization goals. Without innovation we will also not reach the target of digitalization appropriately. And the third is accelerating economic transformation," explained Destry.

Destry also highlighted that digitalization in the financial sector cannot be done separately and emphasized the importance of power of we as a philosophy of collaboration in innovation.

"In the money market, even though the mandate is Bank Indonesia, in improving our money market, it is impossible for Bank Indonesia to run alone. Bank Indonesia together with OJK and the industry to build infrastructure together," said Destry.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the KEK Council Rizal Edwin Manansang expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of the 2025 FEKDI x IFSE as a symbol of national synergy in accelerating digital transformation.

"FEKDI and IFSE this year are not just festivals, but a reflection of the spirit of national collaboration and innovation to build an inclusive, efficient and sustainable economic transformation," said Edwin.

Furthermore, Edwin emphasized the importance of frugal innovation as the right approach to encourage efficiency and affordability in the use of digital technology, so that the benefits of the digital economy can be felt by all levels of society.

"Innovation that saves resources or frugal innovation emphasizes efficiency, affordability, and scalability so that every technological breakthrough can reach the entire community, including those who have never been touched by formal financial services," he said.
