Two Accused In 81 Kg Sabu Case In Aceh Sentenced To Death
BANDA ACEH - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the East Aceh State Prosecutor's Office, Aceh, charged two drug defendants with evidence of 81 kilograms of methamphetamine with the death penalty.
The charges were read by JPU Harry Arfhan, Cherry Arrida, and M Iqbal Zakwan at a hearing at idi district court in East Aceh. In addition to prosecuting two defendants with the death penalty, JPU prosecuted another defendant in the same case with a life sentence.
The session took place online with the panel of judges chaired by Irwandi and accompanied by Tri Purnama SH and Reza Bastira Siregar as member judges respectively.
The two defendants who were sentenced to death were Ibrahim and Muhammad Nur. While the accused is sentenced to life, namely Hamdani. The three defendants are residents of Simpang Ulim, East Aceh Regency.
The three defendants attended the virtual trial of idi correctional institution, East Aceh, where they had been detained.
JPU stated that the defendants were found guilty of lawfully and convincingly violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) jo Article 132 Paragraph (1) law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
According to JPUD, defendant Hamdani was charged with life imprisonment because the defendant only acted as the owner of a motorboat while transporting drugs from sea to land.
"In contrast to the role of the defendants Ibrahim and Muhammad Nur, based on the facts in the trial, they are the owners and dealers of the drug," jpu said.
