BMKG Reveals Early November Entering The Peak Of Rain In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that most parts of Indonesia began entering the peak period of the rainy season in early November 2025.

This phenomenon is expected to last until February 2026 with the movement of the rain system from west to east.

Director of BMKG Weather Modification Governance, Budi Harsoyo, said his agency had prepared anticipatory steps to deal with the potential for extreme rain that risks causing hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides.

One of them is by carrying out weather modification operations in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"So, we are currently working with BNPB and several private weather modification operators, have carried out operations at three posts, Semarang and Solo in Central Java, then one at the Halim post for West Java," said Budi, Sunday, November 2.

According to Budi, the implementation of weather modifications was carried out based on an official request from the local government which stipulated an emergency alert status.

The request was submitted through a letter to BNPB and BMKG, as a follow-up to the early warning issued by the meteorological institution.

"So, this implementation is indeed on the basis of a request from the regional government, which has written to BNPB and BMKG, by issuing an emergency alert status," he said.

After Central Java and West Java, Jakarta became an area that was also considered for weather modifications. In the past week, high-intensity rain flushed the capital and caused a number of areas to be inundated.

"Jakarta is planned for Monday to be closed by the DKI Provincial Government, through the DKI BPBD, and will also invite BNPB to do the same (weather modification)," said Budi.

Based on BMKG analysis, high-intensity rain will still occur in several areas of Java Island in the first week of November. West Java is one of the areas with the highest potential for heavy rain until November 4, and will increase again on November 7, 2025.

"Almost the same for other Javanese regions in Central Java, DKI, and also Jogja," he concluded.
