Alonso Calls Problems With Vinicius Solved
JAKARTA - Xabi Alonso said there would be no punishment for Vinicius Junior after the star went berserk as Real Madrid won over Barcelona at El Clasico.
He praised the player's valuable and positive apology and said the matter was now over.
Vinicius reacted angrily after being replaced in the 72nd minute in a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu, apparently questioning Alonso's decision before heading straight for the tunnel.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, local time, the Brazilian posted an apology on social media that mentioned supporters, teammates, clubs, and President Florentino Perez, but did not name Alonso.
"On Wednesday, after two days of rest, we had a meeting with everyone. Vini played well, he was perfect."

"He spoke from the heart, sincerely. I am very satisfied and for me, since then this problem has been resolved," Alonso said at a press conference on Friday, October 31, 2025, local time.
ESPN previously reported that the relationship between Alonso and Vinicius had been broken - with El Clasico's dispute as the latest episode - after the coach dropped the player from the starting eleven three times this season, having previously planned to back him up in the semifinals of the 2025 Club World Cup.
Alonso denied that he was surprised or disappointed that Vinicius' apology did not give his name.
"For me, it is a very valuable and positive statement. Vini shows her honesty, she speaks from the heart, about what this club means to her."
"For me, the most important thing is what he says to his teammates, supporters, and clubs."
"I am very satisfied and since Wednesday, this problem has been resolved and we are thinking about the next step," said Alonso.
Real Madrid previously said that disciplinary issues would remain internal, but Alonso said Vinicius would not face sanctions for what happened and was ready to play against Valencia on Sunday, November 2, 2025, early morning WIB.
"I'm satisfied, and since Wednesday everything has been closed. We've been training well, Vini's fine."
"We are all on the same boat, rowing in the same direction. We have tomorrow's game, which is the most important thing. There is no punishment," said Alonso.
Talks about a new contract for Vinicius - with his contract currently ending in 2027 - are currently being postponed, but Alonso insists it's not a distraction.
"He looks very focused. A few days ago (against Barcelona) he played very well, as well as against Juventus and Getafe. We hope for the same thing tomorrow," said Alonso.
Alonso's coaching style is in stark contrast to his predecessor, Carlo Ancelotti, who is known for his more relaxed attitude.
"It's important to be authentic, have a sincere and direct relationship. Know your role, and always think about what's best for the team."
"The point is to have a good relationship, with respect, but realize that not everyone is the same. That's where you need emotional intelligence," Alonso said when asked how he handled situations like this.
One of the punches for Real Madrid after a win at El Clasico was captain Dani Carvajal's injury, who had just returned after a long absence.
"Monday (27 October 2025) morning, it was shocking to receive a call from a doctor. We will definitely miss him. He is very important in everyday life. Maybe seven, eight weeks, but I am not a doctor," said Alonso.
