Making The World Aware, Trump Affirms Continue Nuclear Weapon Test

JAKARTA - President Donald Trump reiterated the US would resume nuclear tests, but Trump did not answer directly when asked if it would include a common underground nuclear test during the Cold War.

"You'll find out soon, but we'll do some testing," Trump told reporters at Air Force One as he flew to Palm Beach, Florida.

"Other countries do it. If they (will) do it, we will do it, okay?," he continued.

Trump on Thursday said he ordered the US military to immediately restart the nuclear weapons test process after being suspended for 33 years, a move that appears to be a message to nuclear, Chinese and Russian competing countries.

Trump made the shocking announcement on social media while inside his Marine One helicopter which will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for a trading negotiation session in Busan, South Korea.

It was not immediately known whether Trump was referring to a nuclear explosive test, which would be carried out by the National Nuclear Security Agency, or a nuclear-capable missile test.

During his visit to Malaysia, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said continuing the trial was a very responsible way to maintain nuclear deterrence, adding that the Pentagon would cooperate with the Department of Energy.

"We moved fast," said Hegseth.

No nuclear country other than North Korea was the last time in 2017 that has conducted explosive nuclear tests in more than 25 years.

DPR member Dinaten, a Democrat from Nevada, the location of the US nuclear test, filed a law on Friday banning the resumption of explosive nuclear tests and blocking funding for the trial.

ition, author of the US nuclear test history book, said the resumption of such a trial would prompt Russia and China to do the same and put "the citizens of Nevada back in the spotlight of toxic radiation and environmental damage."
