Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Affirms The State Of Support Continues To Pesantren In Today's Memory, November 1, 2021

JAKARTA Memories of today, four years ago, November 1, 2021, the Minister of Religion (Menag), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas emphasized that the state will continue to support pesantren. This support is given because of the services of pesantren and santri that are hoarding for the nation and state.

Previously, the commitment of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) government to advance Islamic boarding schools was second to none. He considered the religious education institution an important part in efforts to educate the nation's children. Islamic boarding school graduates are considered to have integrity and intelligence.

Indonesia's struggle for independence will not be complete without the presence of Islamic boarding schools and their students. They continue to be active in their struggle against colonialism and ignorance in the colonial era. This condition made the state never underestimate Islamic boarding schools.

The Father of Indonesian Education, Ki Hajar Dewantara, considers modern pesantren to be the best scientific transfer method. Teachers and students are in one complex. As a result, students do not only understand education, but they also absorb the kindness and simplicity of their teachers.

President Jokowi also witnessed the progress of modern pesantren. Jokowi feels he also needs a lot of services from students who have been in Islamic boarding schools to build the country. Some of Jokowi's ministers also came from students.

There is Hanif Dhakhiri as Minister of Manpower who has been in the Solo pesantren. There is also Lukman Hakim Saifuddin as Minister of Religion who has been in Gontor. This reason made Jokowi fully support all forms of pesantren progress.

Jokowi then made the jihad resolution that was echoed by the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Hasyim Asy'ari on October 22, 1945 as Santri Day in 2015. Santri Day is celebrated every October 22 every year.

This support can also be seen with Jokowi's efforts to take the proposal seriously so that there is one special minister who handles pesantren affairs. Even though it is difficult to materialize.

"That was an input for me, when I decided on Santri Day, that was also input from the kiai in the Islamic boarding school. After that we decided. I got information on the number of students throughout Indonesia, there were 9 million. Jokowi's attention to Islamic boarding schools continues by Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. The Minister of Religion for the 2020-2024 era ensured that the state would continue to support Islamic boarding schools on November 1, 2021. Yaqut emphasized that the support was because pesantren services were considered large and many for the nation and state.

He views that students are actively involved in fighting colonialism. Kiai-kiai pesantren is also no less great in leading the fight for Indonesia to be independent. He also hopes that many Indonesian writers will start to contain books related to the intricacies of the pesantren struggle and the life of students.

This wish was expressed so that all Indonesian people do not forget history. Then, the other most important narrative is so that people know the intricacies of life and traditions that exist in pesantren.
