Minister Of Law And Human Rights Supratman Ensures Revoking Untransparent LMK Permits

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas stated that his party did not hesitate to revoke the operational permit of the Collective Management Institute (LMK) which was not transparent in carrying out its duties.

The affirmation was conveyed during an open audience with the Indonesian music industry players and stakeholders at Graha Pengayoman, Ministry of Law, South Jakarta on Friday, October 31.

"If there is a Collective Management Institute (LMK) that is stubborn, I'm sorry, we will revoke the permit," said Supratman.

He highlighted that LMK actually did not appear transparent when its members asked for clarity regarding royalty management.

"If the recipient data is just friends, they don't want to tell you, even though it's a member of your father who gives power to you to collect and distribute, how then can it be a thing for us to be responsible for," said the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

Supratman explained that the division of tasks between the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) and LMK has also been clarified, where LMKN is tasked with withdrawing royalties from users, while LMK distributes them to members consisting of creators and related parties.

The system, said Supratman, will make LMKN and LMK supervise each other in royalty management.

"LMK is now not allowed to collect royalties, those who have the right to collect royalties are LMKN," he said. LMKN may not distribute directly to LMK members. So they will check each other and balance.

The Minister of Law and Human Rights also highlighted the way LMK distributes royalties. He asked the agency to carry out existing procedures, and to be accountable for royalty distribution so that it is right on target.

"If there are funds that are now collected and must be distributed, the conditions are very easy. All LMKs have members, tell LMKN their names, NIK KTP, plus NPWP," said Supratman.

"As soon as it's finished, pay, so that we can be held accountable that what is paid is really the person who deserves it," he added.

Furthermore, Supratman explained that LMKN already has a digital platform called Inspiration, which through this platform, financial reports can be accessed.

Now they (LMKN) have given birth to a platform called Inspiration. And I have asked that every month, the financial statements must be uploaded. So that everyone can access there," concluded the Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman.
