Minister Of Agriculture Revoked 190 Distributors And Fertilizer Distributors Permits That Did Not Comply With 20 Percent Price Reduction
JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman revoked the permit for 190 retailers and fertilizer distributors who were proven not to comply with government policies regarding the reduction in fertilizer retail prices (HET) by 20 percent.
"Distributors and fertilizer retailers who did not comply with the government's announcement about a 20 percent drop in prices, today we revoke the permit. In total there are 190 retailers and distributors that we have acted on," Amran said at a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, October 31.
The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that there is no tolerance for parties who violate the rules and harm farmers. He said this policy was part of the government's efforts to eradicate the practice of the fertilizer mafia.
"It has been a long time since our farmers have been wronged by the mafia. Now is the time for us to fight. The state must side with the farmers. We protect 160 million farmers from dirty games that only benefit a handful of parties," he said.
The permit revocation step was carried out based on the results of sudden inspections (sidak) and field checks in a number of areas such as Lampung, Maluku, and Sulawesi.
The government will also strengthen supervision of fertilizer prices in the field in line with the new policy.
Amran emphasized that distributors and retailers whose licenses have been revoked will not be given the opportunity to return in the future.
"Today we revoke the permit and will not be given another chance. We do not forgive. Practices that harm farmers must be fought," he said.
In addition, he also reminded managers and general managers of Pupuk Indonesia to participate in supervising the implementation of HET in their respective regions.
"For managers or general managers who are not serious about taking violations, we will evaluate them, even if they need to be removed," Amran said.
As a further step, the Ministry of Agriculture will cooperate with the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes) to strengthen the subsidized fertilizer distribution system.
"We have coordinated with the Ministry of Cooperatives. The Red and White Kopdes will play a role in the distribution of fertilizers," he explained.
To strengthen public supervision, the Minister of Agriculture also opened a direct complaint channel via WhatsApp 'Report Pak Amran' at 0823-1110-9390 for farmers and communities who found violations in the field.
"Please report it by mentioning the address of a kiosk or distributor that does not reduce the price by 20 percent. We will follow up directly, and we will keep the identity of the reporter secret. Those of you who report are food heroes," said Amran.
