The Fate Of Pati Sudewo Regent Is Determined Today, Impeached Or Survived?
TODAY, Friday, October 31, is the determinant for the political fate of the Regent Pati Sudewo. The plenary session of the DPRD Pati will decide whether Sudewo will be impeached or remain in office until the end of his tenure. Political tensions in the area are also increasing, while security forces are on standby to keep the process orderly.
The Head of Pati Police, Kombes Pol. Jaka Wahyudi, said that 3,379 joint personnel were deployed to secure the trial for the delivery of the results of the special committee (Pansus) on the Pati DPRD's Questionnaire Rights. Thousands of officers came from the Central Java Regional Police, Pati Police, to the surrounding police.
"The personnel we have alerted are around 3,379 combined from the Regional Police to the police around Pati," said Jaka
According to him, security is carried out in layers at a number of strategic points that have the potential to become the center of the crowds of supporters and opponents of impeachment. "We have placed personnel in vulnerable locations so that the plenary process runs safely and in an orderly manner," he added.
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi appealed to the people of Pati not to be provoked before the plenary right of inquiry. He asked all parties to fully hand over the impeachment process to the applicable legal and political mechanisms. "I urge the community to calm down and submit it to the mechanism that is already running," said Luthfi in Solo, last Thursday.
According to Luthfi, the Central Java Provincial Government will continue to monitor the proceedings to ensure there are no security disturbances. "We respect the process in the DPRD, the important thing is that everything goes according to the rules," he said.
This careful step cannot be separated from the political escalation in Pati which has continued to heat up since the formation of the special committee (pansus) for the DPRD's right to inquiry in September 2025. The Special Committee was formed to investigate a number of controversial policies of the Regent of Sudewo, especially the increase in land taxes and rural and urban buildings (PBB-P2) to 250% which sparked massive protests last August.
Since then, waves of demonstrations have often occurred around the DPRD office. Several times the special committee meeting ended in chaos, even accompanied by intimidation of journalists and pushing each other between supporters of the regent and opposing groups.
The peak occurred on October 2, 2025, when the summons for the Regent of Sudewo was marked by clashes between the mass of the United Pati Society Alliance (AMPB) and supporters of the regent. Police deployed 500 personnel to reduce the situation, while dozens of people were reported to be lightly injured.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also monitors the development of this case. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto emphasized that the central government respects the DPRD mechanism, but reminded that the impeachment process does not cause instability. "We respect the ongoing political process, but continue to observe so that the situation in Pati remains conducive," he said.
Today, all public attention is focused on the Pati DPRD building. Plenary rights of inquiry not only determine the position of a regent, but also as a test of regional political maturity, whether laws and governance are able to stand upright above heated political interests.
