President Prabowo Orders His Ministers To Find The Best Scheme To Solve Debt Problems
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered his ranks of ministers to look for the best scheme to solve the Jakarta fast train debt problem, including details related to figures, and the best debt settlement scenarios that the government can take.
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, when met on the sidelines of his activities in Jakarta, Thursday night, explained that the order was given by President Prabowo to ministers during a limited meeting (ratas) at the Indonesian Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 29 evening.
"Pak Airlangga, Minister of Finance, then CEO Danantara was asked to recalculate the details, then options to request, for example, an extension of the loan period. That's part of the scenarios, the best scheme," said Prasetyo Hadi in response to reporters' questions, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 31.
In that meeting, the ministers who attended the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
"Yesterday in the flat (the Whoosh problem, ed.) was part of one of the things being discussed. The government is looking for the best scheme, including the calculation figures, including possibilities for us to be able to ask for concessions from the payment time side," said Prasetyo Hadi.
However, Pras continued that the government would not only solve themashproblem, but also other transportation-related issues.
"Not onlyASHes, yes, starting from rail transportation that is not fast trains, then bus transportation, ship transportation, we are trying to fix everything," he continued.
The problem of resolving the debt of the Jakarta Fast Train (KCJB) project is in the public spotlight considering that the debt burden from the project reached Rp116 trillion.
Regarding this issue, Minister of Finance Purbaya told reporters that the government would not use the state budget to bear the burden ofminsh's debt. Purbaya explained that the debt from the project was not a burden on the state, but a burden on the SOEs involved in it.

On a separate occasion, the Danantara COD, who is also the Head of the BUMN Regulatory Agency, Dony Oskaria, explained that negotiations for the restructuring of MAYH's debt are still ongoing.
"Then we negotiate, we will go again (to China) to negotiate regarding the term and its loan. This is a negotiation point related to the term of loan, interest rate, and then there are several currencies that we will also discuss with them," said Dony at the Office. The negotiation team from Danantara will negotiate debt restructuring with the Chinese government and partner companies that are members of the PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) Consortium.
