Kotabumi Prison Fails Efforts To Smuggle Drugs

KoTABUMI - Class IIA Penitentiary (Lapas) Kotabumi reiterated its commitment to the fight against drugs. Officers succeeded in thwarting efforts to smuggle synthetic methamphetamine and marijuana that were about to be smuggled into prisons on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

The incident began with information received by the KPLP staff, M. Rio, regarding suspicious belongings. The goods were immediately secured and reported to the Head of the Prison Security Unit (Ka. KPLP), Muhammad Daryoko, for further investigation.

After a search was carried out in the Main Door of Security (P2U) area, officers found 1 package of synthetic marijuana, 1 package of methamphetamine, and 1 unit of cellphone hidden in the water heater. The findings were immediately reported to the Head of the Kotabumi Prison, Tomi Elyus, for follow-up.

Following up on these findings, the Head of the Tomi Elyus Headquarters immediately coordinated with the North Lampung Police to ensure that the legal process was carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.

"I am proud of the dedication and vigilance of the security ranks who continue to maintain integrity in carrying out our duties. We ensure that there is no room for drugs in the Class IIA Kotabumi Prison. This is clear evidence of our commitment to combating illicit narcotics trafficking," said Tomi Elyus, Kalapas Kotabumi in a written statement.

Meanwhile, Ka. KPLP Muhammad Daryoko emphasized that this success was the result of the preparedness of officers in the field.

"We will not provide the slightest space for prohibited attempts that have the potential to damage the integrity of correctional institutions or endanger inmates," he said.

This success is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the 13 Acceleration Program of the Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Agus Andrianto, which focuses on eradicating drugs and strengthening the security system in prisons.

As part of the commitment towards Zero Narcotics, the Class IIA Kotabumi Prison will continue to tighten procedures for examining goods and visitors, as well as strengthening coordination with law enforcement officials to create a safe, clean, and narcotics-free correctional environment.
