Coordinating Minister For IPK AHY Said Kertajati Could Be A National Aerospace Industrial Hub
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) revealed that Kertajati can become a hub for the national aerospace industry.
AHY explained, one of the strategic steps is to make Kertajati a national aerospace industry hub, starting from the collaboration between BIJB Kertajati and Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF).
"We don't just stop at the problem. Every time we continue to simulate what can be a solution, including how Kertajati can be developed into an aerospace industrial hub. Starting from a collaboration between West Java International Airport, BIJB Kertajati, and GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facility)," AHY said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 30.
The Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development, according to AHY, also coordinates with the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the Ministry of Transportation to provide cooperation in maintenance, repair and reshuffle or Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) which will encourage the growth of the national aviation industry.
"Some time ago we together with the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and a number of other stakeholders, including the Ministry of Transportation, tried to bring good cooperation for the needs of the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul). At the beginning, it might start with a helicopter, hopefully after that the winged plane will remain fixed wings," said AHY.
He added that the development of Kertajati cannot be separated from the role of the Metropolitan Tambourine Area which includes Majalengka, Cirebon and Subang.
Strategic activities such as industrial development in Kertajati can trigger the growth of the surrounding area.

AHY menilai, kawasan Rebana berpotensi besar berkembang jika seluruh infrastruktur di dalamnya saling terhubung.
Menurut dia, kawasan tersebut tidak boleh berjalan sendiri-sendiri atau terisolasi, melainkan harus diintegrasikan dengan wilayah lain agar manfaat ekonominya dapat dirasakan secara luas.
“Kertajati dan Rebana adalah contoh konkret bagaimana infrastruktur dapat membuka isolasi, menggerakkan ekonomi daerah, dan memperkuat daya saing wilayah. Ini bukan soal lokasi yang jauh, melainkan bagaimana kita menghadirkan konektivitas dan kegiatan ekonomi yang hidup di sekitarnya,” kata AHY.

AHY assessed that the Tambourine area has great potential to develop if all the infrastructure in it is connected.
According to him, the area should not run alone or be isolated, but must be integrated with other regions so that its economic benefits can be felt widely.
Kertajati and Tambourine are concrete examples of how infrastructure can open isolation, drive the regional economy, and strengthen regional competitiveness. This is not a matter of a distant location, but how we present connectivity and economic activities that live around it," said AHY.
