Newzoo Report: Global Game Industry Grows More Than 3 Percent In 2025

JAKARTA - The global game industry is still recording positive growth in 2025. According to Newzoo's latest report, the total industrial revenue is projected to reach US$188.8 billion, or around Rp. 3,135 trillion, up 3.4% compared to the previous year.

The report, entitled "Newzoo's Global Games Market Report 2025" also sees that this growth is driven by the increasing number of players on various platforms, especially from mobile devices.

The number of gamers worldwide is estimated to reach 3.58 billion people, equivalent to 61.5% of the global population, and growing by about 4.4% on an annual basis. Of these, Asia-Pacific became the largest market with 1.89 billion players or 53% of the total global.

Followed by the Middle East & Africa (595 million players), Europe (465 million), Latin America (372 million), and North America (249 million). Newazoo noted that the Middle East and African regions grew the fastest, reaching 6.8% on an annual basis, surpassing Asia-Pacific and Latin America, which rose 4.5%, respectively.

Of the total players, the mobile segment remains the largest with about 3 billion players. Meanwhile, PC players reached 936 million players, an increase of 3.1% YoY, and console players around 645 million, an increase of 2.5% YoY.

In terms of revenue, the mobile segment also dominates with a projection of 103 billion US dollars or around Rp1,710 trillion, followed by a console of 45.9 billion US dollars (Rp762 trillion), and a PC of 39.9 billion US dollars (Rp663 trillion).

Newzoo noted that PC growth was driven by increased players in China and Japan as well as a major release schedule in the second half of this year, while the increase in consoles was supported by the launch of new devices such as the next generation Nintendo Switch.
