Maresca Big Anger Over Red Delap Card: Shame!
JAKARTA - Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca accused Liam Delap of being selfish after receiving a red card that he thought was stupid and embarrassing in a 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Carabao Cup, Thursday, October 30, 2025, early morning WIB.
Delap was sent off in a 4-3 win at Molineux after receiving two yellow cards in seven minutes after coming on as substitutes for his first appearance since August 2025.
The first yellow card was given due to clashes with Yerson Mosquera until it fell. The second yellow card was given after a reckless tackle against Emmanuel Agbadou.
It is Chelsea's sixth red card in nine games this season. Maresca is unhappy with the striker, who is now missing the weekend game against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Today we received a very stupid red card, that's completely unnecessary, it's a complete stupid foul, we can avoid it."
"I fully support and understand red cards like against Brighton and Manchester United, it's difficult."
"However, the red card against Nottingham and today's red card, we can avoid it and we have to avoid it."
"Embarrassing when a red card is like today. Shame. Two yellow cards in seven minutes. Both, I think, can be avoided."
"After the first yellow card, I've told him four or five times to stay calm."
"However, he remains a player when on the pitch. Maybe he plays for himself. He has difficulty realizing and listening to the people around him," said Maresca.
The red card damaged the entertaining atmosphere of the match in which Chelsea managed to withstand Wolves' fierce resistance in the second half.
Goals from Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, and Esteveao gave the London club a 3-0 lead in the first half. The sad season for Wolves seems to be hitting a low.
However, the second half was different. Tolu Arokodare and David Moller Wolfe managed to press Chelsea, but Jamie Gittens' goal in the 90th minute seemed to ensure Chelsea's victory.
However, Wolfe scored his second goal moments later as Wolves continued to press, but they were unable to score the equalizer and Chelsea managed to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Wolves Manager Vitor Pereira argued with supporters after the Premier League's defeat on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to Burnley, but his team actually got cheers.
Pereira, who was still under pressure as supporters chanted for her to be fired behind 0-3, said she believed appearances in the second half could be a blueprint for Wolves to thrive.
"We showed ourselves and the supporters that together we could do it again."
"We just need a win to believe and to keep going. It was clearly seen in the second half."
"This season, we continue to fight and fight. Of course, we need to anticipate the second half and understand what we can do."
"This is what we can do in this league. We can compete with Chelsea. We can compete with any team."
"If we play like this, we can compete with them, with confidence, with energy, with the energy of our supporters."
"We can do it. We are a small club, but we can do it together," said Pereira.
