Guardiola Believes James Trafford Will Be The Main Goalkeeper Of The England National Team
JAKARTA - Pep Guardiola said that James Trafford was destined to be the main goalkeeper of the England National Team (Timnas) sooner or later.
Trafford, a Manchester City academy graduate, rejoined the club this summer after spending two years with Burnley hoping to become the main goalkeeper of Guardiola's side following Ederson's move to Turkey.
However, after starting in Manchester City's first three Premier League games, he became the second choice behind Gianluigi Donnarumma after the Italian's arrival at Etihad on the last day of the transfer market.
Trafford has the opportunity to replace Donnarumma under the Manchester City crossbar in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round match against Swansea City on Thursday, October 30, 2025, early morning WIB.

"Only I can say we're happy he's here. He has to be ready if we need him in the Premier League or Champions League."
"We have an amazing goalkeeper (who will be) England's number 1 goalkeeper sooner or later," Guardiola said of Trafford.
When asked if Trafford learned from his new teammate who won the Champions League, Guardiola agreed.
"They learn from each other. Goalkeepers are always connected. Like I learned from the players and the players can learn from the staff," said the Spaniard.
Guardiola also provided the latest information on the injuries of Abdukodir Khusanov, Rodri, and Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian forward collided with goalkeeper when Manchester City lost to Aston Villa on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
"Khusa siap bermain beberapa menit besok dan Rodri masih belum. Jadi, kondisi semakin membaik, latihan bersama kami terbatas."
"But, of course, after what happened twice with a muscle injury, we'll see how his condition is this week."
"Erling, I didn't see him today, but it was a minor injury and the day was getting better. However, now we are training this afternoon and will know more for sure how he feels," said Guardiola.
