Kaltara Wins The Highest National IPP, Real Evidence Of Youth Development Commitment In Border Areas
JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) recorded extraordinary achievements at the national level after winning the Highest Youth Development Index (IPP) in 2024.
The Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Zainal Arifin Paliwang emphasized that this success is a manifestation of the seriousness of local governments in strengthening the quality of human resources, especially the younger generation in Indonesia's border areas.
"We consistently build a sustainable youth ecosystem, ranging from education, work skills, to character development and entrepreneurship," said Governor Zainal, Wednesday, October 29.
Zainal revealed that the increase in North Kalimantan's IPP over the past two years has shown a clear policy direction. Youth is not only a beneficiary, but the main actor in development in Kaltara.
"The youth entrepreneurship training program, support for the creative community, and strengthening digital access are part of a strategy to expand youth roles in the regional economy," said Zainal.
The North Kalimantan youth is no longer the audience, but part of the motor driving development. The government's job is to open up space and give them the opportunity to move forward," he continued.
In addition, Kaltara also stands out in the aspects of social and political participation of youth, which are important indicators of the IPP assessment. The involvement of the younger generation in environmental programs, digital innovation, and community social activities continues to increase.
This success shows that the youngest province in Indonesia is able to compete nationally, even overtaking major provinces in youth development.
"Kaltara proves that even though it is in the border area, the spirit and competitiveness of young people is not inferior to other regions," he said.
To note, the youngest province in Indonesia officially won the National Highest IPP in 2024 as an achievement that affirms the strong commitment of the North Kalimantan Provincial Government in advancing the younger generation.
The prestigious award was handed over to the Governor of Kaltara, Zainal at the peak of the 97th Youth Pledge Day (HSP) at the GBK Basketball Hall, Jakarta, Tuesday (28/10).
