Ministry Of ATR/BPN Prepares 240,000 Ha Lands To Plant Etanol Raw Materials
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid stated that his party had prepared 240,000 hectares (ha) of land to support the plan to plant fuel oil (BBM) with an ethanol content of 10 percent.
This was conveyed by Nusron when met by reporters at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 29.
"Meanwhile, we only have around 240,000 (ha) of land, which is capable of 240,000," said Nusron.
Nusron explained, 240,000 ha of the land is spread across 18 provinces and will be expanded to one million hectares.
"The targets are in 18 provinces, but later there will be up to one million hectares because we are looking for it again," he said.
Previously, the government was preparing a roadmap for the use of ethanol as a mixture of 10 percent gasoline fuel.
1 million ha of land will also be prepared to grow ethanol raw materials.
The raw materials for ethanol come from sugar cane, cassava to corn. This commodity will be developed to support the plan to use ethanol as a mixture of fuel.
Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman said he was ready to support the government's long-term vision to make ethanol a source of energy for the future.
Amran admitted that he was coordinating with the Ministry of ATR/BPN in determining the location to be used to plant ethanol raw materials.
"Etanol, remind me, ethanol plans to depend on my friend Gus Nusron (Minister of ATR). The land is there, we are ready to plant. There is a President Director (Bulog) here. I brought this, he is ready to plant one million hectares," he said at the Town Hall Meeting for One Year at the Coordinating Ministry for Food in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 21.

Menurut Amran, komoditas bahan baku etanol yang akan ditanam juga beragam.
"Sumbernya ada dua etanol tadi, pertama adalah ubi, singkong satu juta hektare disiapkan sudah ada. Tebu, kami rancang 500.000 (hektare), dua ini bisa jadi etanol," tuturnya.

He said that the planting of ethanol raw materials must be fully prepared to the micro management.
According to Amran, the commodities of ethanol raw materials to be planted are also diverse.
"The source has two ethanols, the first is sweet potatoes, one million hectares of cassava have been prepared. Tebu, we designed 500,000 (hectares), these two could be ethanol," he said.
