Provincial Government: Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan's Examination Issue At The AGO Of Hoaxes
BENGKULU - Bengkulu Provincial Government Attorney Ana Tasia Pase confirmed that the information circulating on social media regarding Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan being questioned by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) was fake news or hoaxes.
"That's not true, it's a hoax. We have traced the source and found out the identity and address of the account owner, with the initials F," said Ana Tasia Pase as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 29.
The clarification was conveyed in response to the upload of the Vox Populi VD social media account which said it contained a misleading narrative about the governor's examination.
As a follow-up, Ana stated that her party had sent a subpoena to the account owner to immediately revoke the upload and submit an open apology.
"We will give three days from the summons sent. If there is no good faith, then we will officially report the owner of the account to the Bengkulu Police," he said.
Ana also appealed to the public to be more careful in spreading information, especially regarding the good name of government officials and institutions.
"The Bengkulu Provincial Government respects freedom of opinion, but that does not mean that it is free to spread slander or hoaxes that harm other parties," said Ana.
