Landwater Polluted By Garbage, Residents Around Cipeucang TPA South Tangerang Must Buy Galon Water Every Day
SOUTH TANGERANG - A number of residents in RT/RW 06/04, Serpong Village, South Tangerang City (Tangsel), who live around the Cipeucang Final Disposal Site (TPA), complained about the difficulty of getting clean water due to alleged environmental pollution.
One of the residents, Agus, said that the quality of groundwater in his settlements is now unfit for consumption because it is suspected that it is polluted by waste from piles of garbage in the TPA.
"All activities use gallon water to buy. So increase expenses, because a day it can be four gallons for drinking, cooking, and others," said Agus in Tangerang, Antara, Wednesday, October 29.
For daily needs such as washing and bathing, residents must seek water from other sources far from the pollution area. Residents have also submitted this complaint to the local government.
Another resident, Uum (60), said that groundwater in their neighborhood had not been able to be used since last year. Now, some residents rely on clean water assistance sent via toren.
"It can't be used now. There was a year ago, I used to buy gallon water. Because it was not enough and the water was not enough, it was finally sent a toren," he said.
He hopes that the government will immediately follow up on this issue, especially in dealing with the impact of pollution from the Cipeucang TPA, which residents have complained about for a long time.
Responding to this, the South Tangerang City Government stated that it was preparing handling steps by building Wastewater Processing Installations (IPAL) around the Cipeucang TPA.
Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang Pilar Saga Ichsan said the installation was designed to process lindi water and prevent the expansion of pollution into residential areas.
"Now we will prepare an IPAL installation. Hopefully with IPAL, the disposal of lindi water and others can be controlled," said Pilar.
In addition, the Tangsel City Government will also distribute additional clean water assistance for affected residents so that their daily water needs are still met.

"If it's not enough, we'll add more quantities so that the residents' clean water needs can be met," said Pilar.
