Meeting With The Deputy Minister Of Public Works, Minister Of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid Discusses Harmonization Of Building Rules In River Sempadan To Lakes

JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, today.

Nusron said the meeting was held to harmonize regulations related to buildings above water resources, such as river boundaries, reservoirs, lakes, and others.

Bearing in mind, at the end of February 2025, the Jabodetabek area was surrounded by floods. The reason is that it is suspected that many buildings stand on the border of water resources.

"We initiated a meeting with the (Ministry) of Public Works. It is hoped that with this meeting, we will harmonize the regulations. The regulations must be uniform. One regulation regarding the supply of rivers that are prepared together, be it a reference for friends at the Directorate General of Water Resources as well as being a reference for friends at ATR-BPN," Nusron told reporters, Wednesday, October 29.

"Both from the aspect of spatial planning, surveys and land mapping and endings, is the issuance of certificates and land registration. This must be uniform first, so that in the future there will be no problems," he continued.

After harmonizing the regulations, said Nusron, his party will conduct a spatial audit soon along the border of water resources.

The goal is that before entering the rainy season, there are already steps to anticipate flooding.

"After we harmonize the regulations, in the near future we will continue the work which was stopped after the flood. What is it? Spatial planning audits, certificates and buildings along the river and lake border. We are targeting (completed) before January or February, which usually floods occur," he said.

Later, said Nusron, his party will check how much land is certified around the border.

"We will check how many buildings there are. We ask the local government (Pemda) to cancel it, so that it is gradually returned to the function of the border," explained Nusron.

"Because the function of the border is to secure the river, to secure the water discharge. The reservoir so that water does not overflow to the mainland or outside the river," he continued.

According to Nusron, currently the location where humans should live in water is located. This also caused flooding some time ago.

"Because water has its own place, do not let the place where the water is placed by humans. Later, humans should not be angry if the water changes to place a human place. Right, that's the philosophy," concluded Nusron.
