Kemendikdasmen Sharpens Koding And AI As New Subjects
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) sharpens learning of artificial coding and intelligence (AI) into a new subject as a step of curriculum transformation in facing the times.
"The development of information technology demands that the entire education ecosystem, from the government, the education office, schools, teachers, to students be adaptive and innovative in order to be able to compete globally," said the Director of Junior High School at the Ministry of Education and Culture Maulani Mega Hapsari as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 28.
Maulani emphasized that the curriculum as the core of education must continue to transform following these demands.
It is believed that the use of AI can increase time efficiency for teachers in repetitive administrative tasks.
Support for this technological adaptation was also voiced by the Chairman of Commission X DPR RI, Hetifah Sjaifudian. According to Hetifah, the wise use of artificial intelligence or AI is an important key in the world of modern education.

"Like it or not, AI will be part of education. Our job is to ensure its presence to strengthen teachers, not replace teachers," said Hetifah.
He explained that AI can be used for various things, such as the creation of richer and more relevant learning content. This technology also allows personalized learning according to the unique needs of each student.
In addition, AI can serve as a virtual teaching assistant to help students outside school hours.
Artificial intelligence is also able to provide assessments and automatic feedback on the work of students.
However, Hetifah also reminded the vital aspects of ethics in the use of AI in the school environment so as not to be misused.
