Hoaks To Digital Radicalism Increasingly Rampant, Jokowi Asks People To Be Vigilant
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the public to be aware of negative digital-based content. Moreover, nowadays crime in the digital space continues to increase and could threaten the unity of the nation.
"Hoaxes, online fraud, gambling, child sexual exploitation, cyber bullying, hate speech, digital-based radicalism need to be vigilant because it threatens the unity and unity of the nation," Jokowi said in a speech launching the National Digital Literacy Program that aired on The Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Thursday, May 20.
According to him, it is not only the government that has to fight this kind of content. The former Governor of DKI Jakarta stressed that resistance to negative content that continues to grow is the obligation of all parties.
So, he invites all parties to create a lot of positive content. Especially those who educate, cool down, and call for peace.
"The Internet should be able to increase the productivity of the community, make MSMEs rise in class, multiply MSMEs on boarding to e-commerce platforms. Thus, the internet can provide economic added value for all levels of society," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, he also called digital literacy a great job. It needs the cooperation of all parties to make people more digitally literate.
For this reason, Jokowi appreciates the support of all parties involved in the national digital literacy program. There are at least 110 institutions and various communities involved in the program.
"Digital literacy is a great job. The government can't work alone. It is necessary to get the support of all components of the nation so that more and more people are digitally literate," he said.
"I hope this movement rolled and continues to grow can encourage various initiatives elsewhere doing concrete work in the community to be more capable of utilizing the internet for educational and productive activities," he concluded.
