The 2026 Hajj Fee Meeting Was Held During Recess, Chairman Of Commission VIII DPR: Saudi Arabia Is Waiting

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Marwan Dasopang, explained the reason why the discussion meeting on the cost of Hajj 2026 was held during a recess. In fact, the DPR has just entered its session on November 3.

Marwan said there were no other considerations than the urgency that Saudi Arabia had been waiting for a decision from Indonesia for a long time. Moreover, the Saudi Arabian government has provided a quota of 221,000 pilgrims.

"Yes, the Saudi side has actually been waiting for a decision for a long time, but we are busy with various things, we can't solve it, including the law, then government regulations and ministerial regulations have not been completed, and we are also in recess, so at the end of this recess we can only do it. Actually, from last month it had to be decided, "said Marwan at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 28.

The proposed 2026 Hajj costs that have been proposed by the government to the DPR amounted to Rp. 88.4 million per congregation with a cost borne by the congregation of Rp. 54.9 million per person and a benefit value of Rp. 33 million per congregation.

This year's hajj costs are claimed to have decreased by around Rp. 1 million per congregation compared to 2025. Until now, Commission VIII of the DPR is still trying so that the 2026 hajj fee can decrease by Rp. 2 million per congregation.

Meanwhile, regarding the deadline for payment for prospective pilgrims, Marwan said it would be decided in the Panja meeting tomorrow. Later, he said, regarding the cost of Hajj to payment will be officially announced by the government and the DPR after the panja meeting is over.

"Immediately tomorrow it will be decided, after the committee, we will make a decision later on points, order the Ministry of Hajj, immediately announce and ask the congregation to pay off the pilgrims who have been summoned," said Marwan.

"We will try to make it on October 30 at the latest, there has been a decision, on the 29th we have finished discussing the committee, however, if it is possible for 29 to be announced, we will try," he concluded.

Previously, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah proposed a pilgrimage (Bipih) fee of Rp. 54.9 million per congregation or 62 percent of the proposed cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) in 1447 H / 2026 AD amounting to Rp. 88.4 per congregation. This proposal decreased by Rp. 1 million per congregation compared to last year's BPIH which amounted to Rp. 89.4 million per congregation.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR on Monday, October 27.

Dahnil said that the Hajj operational budget for 1447 H/2026 AD had been submitted to Commission VIII of the DPR through letter number S 26/2025 dated October 24, 2025 regarding the proposal of the regular BPIH and specifically for 1447 H/2026 AD.

"For the year 1447 hijri or 2026 AD, the government proposed an average BPIH per congregation of Rp. 88,409,365.45 with a Bipiah composition of Rp. 54,924,000 or equivalent to 62 percent of the total value, the optimization benefit value is Rp. 33,485,365.45 or 38 percent," Dahnil said in a meeting.

"In short, the value we submitted was related to BPIH, a decrease of Rp. 1 million compared to last year," he added.
