Hit By A Motorbike, Then Run Over By A Truck: The Seconds Of The Navy's Death In Pulogadung

JAKARTA - A pedestrian with the initials AL died after being run over by a truck during heavy rains flushed the Pulogadung Industrial area, Cakung District, East Jakarta, last Monday night.

Based on eyewitness testimony, before being run over by a truck, the victim was hit by a motorcycle that passed around the scene.

"Initially it was grazed, then the truck ran over, but the truck was said to be just running," said a resident who witnessed the incident, Ranti, in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 28.

Ranti said the victim's body bounced towards the road after being hit by a motorbike until a truck was run over from behind.

Seeing the incident, local residents immediately arrived at the location. But no one dared to touch the victim's body. Residents then covered the victim's body with a blue and red plastic raincoat taken from a nearby shop.

The traffic flow in the Pulogadung Industrial area had stalled badly due to the position of the victim's body in the middle of the road. Vehicles can only pass slowly at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour.

Shortly thereafter, the ambulance arrived at the location to evacuate the victim. Before being transported to the hospital, officers had given a sign of using spray paint around the victim's position as a marker of the location being found dead.

From the residents' statements, the Navy victim is known to often make a fuss in the neighborhood where he lives. He is said to be often drunk and brandishing machetes at local residents.

"The victim often makes trouble when he is drunk. He was brought by his family to Padang because he often made trouble, but was brought back to Jakarta," said Ranti.

The victim is known to have an adopted child who was at the scene, while his biological child was at home.
