The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Not Talked About The Corruption Suspect
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that the investigation related to the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project, God willing, has not yet spoken about the party responsible. This process is still struggling with the search for criminal events and their criminal elements.
This was conveyed by the KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when asked about a figure who might be a suspect. The investigation is said to have been carried out since early 2025.
"This is still at the investigation stage, yes. So we are still focused on looking for information related to the alleged criminal acts of corruption, the elements of the incident, the occurrence of alleged corruption," Budi told reporters quoted on Tuesday, October 28.
Budi also could not confirm when this investigation would enter the investigation stage. He only ensured that so far no obstacles were found.
"This is still progressing, yes, it means it has started, starting at the beginning of the year, and of course this is still ongoing," he said.
"We are both waiting for the progress, and let's oversee it. We continue to convey to the public, anyone who has data, has information that can support the handling of this case, please be able to convey it to the KPK," continued Budi.
For information, MAYh serves the Jakarta-Bandung route with a length of 142.3 kilometers with a travel time of about 30'45 minutes and has been operating since October 2023 after being inaugurated by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This project is a collaboration between the Indonesian government and China.
The project value at that time was only targeted at 5.13 billion US dollars or around Rp. 82.08 trillion. However, this figure swelled by 1.2 billion US dollars to 7.27 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 115 trillion assuming the US dollar exchange rate was Rp. 16 thousand.
As previously reported, information on the investigation related to the alleged corruption of the Jakarta "Bandung fast train project," said Asep Guntur, initially carrying out the duties (Plt) of the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK.
