The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Finally Reveals Allegations Of Corruption In The Investigation Stage

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that allegations of corruption related to the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project have entered the investigation stage. However, Asep has not been able to inform further when the KPK has carried out the alleged corruption.

"Currently it is at the investigation stage," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to journalists in Jakarta, Monday, October 27.

Previously, former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD in a video uploaded on his personal YouTube channel on October 14, 2025, namely Mahfud MD Official, revealed that there were allegations of corruption in the form of budget inflations or mark-ups in thefeeding project.

"According to Indonesia's calculations, the cost per one kilometer of the dollar 52 millionASH train. However, in China itself, the calculation is 17-18 million US dollars. It has tripled," he said.

He continued, "Who is raising this? Where did the money go? It tripled up. 17 million US dollars, yes, US dollars, not rupiah, per kilometer to 52 million US dollars in Indonesia. Now that's a mark-up. It must be investigated who did this first."

On October 16, 2025, the KPK appealed to Mahfud MD to make a report regarding alleged corruption in thection project. Mahfud then responded to the KPK in a tweet on his personal social media account, @mohmahfudmd, namely on October 18, 2025.

On Sunday, Mahfud MD stated that he was ready to be summoned by the KPK to provide information regarding the alleged inflated budget for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project, Mahfud. Mahfud emphasized that he would not make a report to the KPK.

"Yes, I am ready to be summoned. If called, I will come. If I was told to report, what was it, it was a waste of time too," said Mahfud when met at the Sasana Hinggil Dwi Abad Complex, South Square, Yogyakarta City, Sunday.

This was conveyed by Mahfud in response to the KPK's statement encouraging him to officially report the alleged corruption in the project. Mahfud stated that there is no obligation for someone to make a report to the KPK and vice versa the anti-corruption agency has no right to urge him to report.

"He (KPK) has no right to encourage. The report, there is no obligation for people to report," he said.

According to Mahfud, information regarding the alleged mark-up or inflated budget for the railway project was actually known by the KPK before he revealed it to the public.

"Wong yang saya laporkan itu, KPK sudah tahu. Karena sebelum saya bicara, sudah ramai dulu, kan? Saya hanya berbicara karena sudah ramai saja," ucap mantan Ketua Mahkamah Konstitusi itu.

Mahfud said the parties who should have been summoned by the KPK were people who first spoke and had data related to the high-speed rail project.

"The KPK should have called people who spoke before, that's a lot, there are a lot of people who have data, and the perpetrators. If I'm just a recorder," said Mahfud.

When asked what his views were about the condition of the high-speed rail project, Mahfud joked. "Yes, was-wus, was-wus, was-wus," he said with a laugh.
