Garbage Mountain In Bantar Gebang Is In The Spotlight, The Government Reactivates TPS3R
BEKASI - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is working with the Environment Agency (DLH) to reactivate the Reduce Waste Processing Site, Reuse, Recycle (TPS3R) so that there is no accumulation of waste in the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST), Bekasi, West Java.
This was conveyed by the Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works, Dewi Chomistriana, when met by reporters after attending the Peak of the 2025 World Day and World City Day (HHD-HKD) Habitat Event at the Upper Medium People's School (SRMA) 13, Pangudi Luhur Center Bekasi, West Java, Monday, October 27.
"So, now we are also working with the Department of Environment to further activate the TPS3R in the DKI area. So, the garbage burden to Bantar Gebang is also not too big," said Dewi.
Dewi also revealed that her party together with the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) built mini incinerators such as laboratories before the scale was increased to a larger level.
"So, in Bantar Gebang, actually all management is complete. So, there is compounding (posting), landfill mining is there, small incinerators are also there, TPST, RDF is there. It's all there," he added.
Even though it's complete, Dewi admits that there are already a lot of piles of garbage in Bantar Gebang. So it is needed to reactivate the TPS3R.

The reason is, the government will convert Mounted waste in Indonesia into electrical energy through a waste to energy (WTE) program or Waste Processing into Electricity (PSEL).
"So in the future, the garbage has been mounting like that, we will burn it, we will convert it into electricity. So God willing, in the future there will be no more mountains," explained Dody.
